How Stuff2Sell Testing works

Stuff2Sell Testing is an online marketplace. A platform where your stuff becomes someone else’s treasure.

But how? Because each profile is verified. When you sign up with Stuff2Sell Testing you sign up with your ID details. Your ID will be verified before you can buy or sell anything. This ensures that a buyer and seller can know that you are a real person.

There can be no duplicates or fake profiles, because ID numbers are unique. Note that ID numbers are not stored in plain text and is never shown to other users.

Once you have been verified you can go ahead and create listings.

With each listing you create there will be a fees structure in place.

The fee you pay will depend on the value of your listing. The listing will only be shown, once the fee is paid. The fee is based on a set structure.

  • Small: R 0.00 - R 1,000.00 = R 50.00
  • Medium: R 1,001.00 - R 3,000.00 = R 100.00
  • Large: R 3,001.00 - R 100,000.00 = R 200.00
  • XLarge: R 100,001.00 - R 1,000,000.00 = R 300.00

Stuff2Sell Testing never expects you to share your exact location. In fact, the location should not be exact. Choosing a nearby shopping centre or public place will be good enough. The location is used when someone searches for stuff within a certain area.

Stuff2Sell Testing want you to feel safe! Another way we can ensure that is by creating a review system.

You, as seller, will be reviewed by the buyer and in return you will also review the buyer.

The best part is, that this stays on your profile for future buyers and sellers to see.

Creating credibility, and once again, security.

Stuff2Sell Testing is a growing platform and we are excited to evolve with time to keep on being your safe selling solution.

Tips when buying/selling on any Marketplace

  • Never share your private residence to a potential buyer/seller.
  • Always meet the buyer/seller in a public place, for example shopping center, police station, fuel station, etc.
  • Try to avoid locations that are too far away from your location.
  • Always ensure you have received the money before parting from your belongings. For bank transfers ensure the money cleared into your account.
  • Practise common sense and take care of your safety first. Ask a friend to come with when meeting with a potential buyer/seller.

Scams to be on the outlook for

It is impossible to list all the scams, but here is a couple and we may add more in the future.

  • Sellers advertising a fake/non-existent product
    • This is usually done to lure a potential buyer and rob them of their money and/or possessions. If a deal is too good to be true, it usually is a scam.
    • Please report these listings to us for further review and if we agree, the seller may be warned or banned from our platform.
  • Buyers that are only interested in robbing a seller
    • These are hard to avoid, which is why we do not recommend meeting in private places, and rather meet at public places while having a friend with you to help.
    • Please report these buyers to us for further review and if we agree, the buyer may be warned or banned from our platform.
  • Buyers reversing payment after leaving the meeting place
    • This is quite a recent scam. As soon as they have the item you sold, they will reverse the payment, leaving you with nothing.
To avoid such a situation, set up a separate bank account for use when selling items on any marketplace. Receive the funds into this account, and immediately transfer incoming funds to your real bank account (leaving a minimum balance in the account which will result in the reverse payment failing).
    • Please report these buyers to us for further review and if we agree, the buyer may be warned or banned from our platform.
  • Scalpers buying bunches of items to resell at very high markups
    • Usually when new products are released, there is a temporary shortage of these products. Scalpers will buy any and all that they can find, sometimes bypassing maximum item restrictions a store might impose, in order to get as much as they can. They will then go on marketplaces and advertise the items at significant increase in prices - sometimes more than double the expected price. These scalpers usually have very limited time to sell these items, as the shortage is usually only temporary.
    • Do not buy from scalpers. Please report them to us for further review and if we agree, the seller may be warned or banned from our platform.
  • Sellers selling broken items as new or slightly used (or any other condition than was advertised)
    • These are hard to avoid, but ensuring you have a way to test the item before making the payment can greatly reduce the risk. Ask the seller to make a short video of the item proving that it works, even before agreeing to meet with the seller, can be a great way to reduce the risk. When meeting up, handle the product and check for possible clues that the item might be broken, for example water damage on electrical items etc.
    • Please report ese sellers to us for further review and if we agree, the seller may be warned or banned from our platform.
